A Thank You Note

As I grow older, I don’t see a birthday as something fancy to celebrate. Well.. I never considered it fancy anyway. I know it must be nice to have my beloved family and closest friends around. Having dinner together at home or just going out to our favorite restaurant (errr..not sure if we have one :p). But I see it more as a way to be grateful for another beautiful year in my life.

I was born on 24th of March 27 years ago. Oh yeah, so today is my 27th birthday. Old enough, huh? Hehe.. But it doesn’t matter, I still feel young and I hope I’ll still do.

Yesterday I didn’t even remember that it was a day before my birthday. That afternoon I was studying with skype on. I was sitting on my cozy sofa, reading book (a.k.a. studying for exam). I put my laptop on my bed and my hubby was there on the screen. He’s also doing something, designing for his office interior I guess. We talked and laughed in between, then we continued doing what we were doing.

At 6 pm (00.00 West Indonesia time), he asked me to check my email. “Why?” I asked. “Just check it,” he said.

Then I saw an unread email from him with this subject: ‘for my beloved wife’. He sent me the birthday card above.

I hope every single day is a celebration, fulfilled by happiness, just like today. And every birthday you spend with me is the best one of your life. – Chendra

How sweet! (and I admire his design as usual :D). Thank you, sayaaang… :* I was so happy, touched and probably a bit sad at the same time now that we’re far away from each other. But you know that — quoting a poem by E. E. Cummings — “I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart). I am never without it (anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)” I love you!

I don’t share my birthday on Facebook so probably only closest friends and some of my old friends remember. I really appreciate those who send me wishes and prayers. Thank you! 🙂

Today is also birthday of Alex, one of my neighbors. When I talked with Humay at the kitchen this afternoon, she said that we have some neighbors whose birthday is in March: Alex and Dominik, who will celebrate his birthday in a few days. I said that my birthday is also in this month. “It’s today,” I said. “No!! You must be kidding, right? How come I don’t know? No, you’re kidding.” Stella was also there and she said, “I don’t see it on Facebook.” Yes, fellas, because I don’t share it there. Hehe…

Stella said sorry because she didn’t prepare any presents. “I promise I’ll get one after exams.” “No problem,” I replied. “Oh yes, it is a problem because you didn’t tell us!” Humay insisted that I should have told them that today is my birthday. Hehe.. Thanks, dear. I know that’s because you love me so much. :p

Tonight when I was about to leave home for an appointment, I met some of my neighbors in the corridor. They congratulated me and sang  ‘happy birthday’ for me and Alex. Oh that’s more than enough to realize that I have nice people around. Thanks guys. 🙂
